Huangzangyu Scenic Area is located in the southeast of Xiao County, Suzhou City, Anhui Province, adjacent to Xuzhou and Huaibei, with a total area of 26.5 square kilometers. It is a national forest park, a national 4A level scenic spot, a Chinese historical and cultural heritage protection area, a Chinese forest health destination, a summer resort in Anhui Province, and a research and travel base in Anhui Province.
According to the "Geographical Records of the Book of Han", "Liu Bangwei, the founder of Han, often hid in this mountain and once sought refuge here; hence the name Huangzangyu". In 205 BC, Liu Bang and Xiang Yu engaged in a major battle in Pengcheng (now Xuzhou), but were defeated and escaped by hiding in the mountains and forests of Huangzangyu. Afterwards, their fortunes reversed and they established the Han dynasty; Huangzangyu is named after this and is also known as the "Han Xingfu Land".
Huangzangyu Scenic Area has a rich cultural heritage.
There are cultural relics of Confucianism, where Confucius gave lectures and preached. There are also scenic spots such as a drying room, a book collection cave, and an inkstone washing pool;
There is a Chinese cultural legend that Liu Bang sought refuge and healing here, leaving behind scenic spots such as Huangzang Cave, Machao Spring, and Bajian Spring, as well as the story of Wang Ersister-in-law's herbal medicine;
There are also two thousand year old ancient temples that have been passed down from the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties period and have a thriving incense industry;
We have established the Central Museum of Culture and History (Anhui) as a creative base and the Anhui Provincial Study Tour Practice Base, and annually receive students and teachers from major calligraphy and painting institutes and universities for sightseeing and sketching; There is also a General Stele Gallery Art Museum in the scenic area, which collects poems and verses by generals such as Chen Yi and Luo Binghui; The patriotic education base - "Xiao Su Tongling Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery" is also located around the scenic area, with green pine trees often accompanying heroes and inheriting red culture.
Huangzangyu Scenic Area boasts beautiful natural ecology.
The scenic area is rich in species and diverse in plant species, especially represented by the millennium old tree community, among which the most beautiful one is the ancient green sandalwood of the Shang Dynasty, which is 3500 years old; There is also a particularly rare ancient boxwood tree that has grown for thousands of years and has become a pillar of talent.
According to statistics, there are over 100 ancient trees in the scenic area that are over a thousand years old, and over 300 ancient trees that are over a hundred years old. The area is home to continuous growth of Nanjing oak, oak, and Chinese parasol trees. The negative oxygen ion content in the tourist area is over 2000 per cubic centimeter, earning it the nickname "natural oxygen bar".
In recent years, the new gates of the scenic area have been fully opened, and experiential attractions such as glass suspension bridges, glass slides, and nine gates have been newly built in the scenic area. Huangzang Valley is covered with green shade and towering ancient trees; Clear springs flow freely in the mountains, accompanied by thin mist and clouds. Tianmen Temple Scenic Area is characterized by its rugged mountains, unique trees, strange rocks, and secluded forests; Its complete and unique ecological protection, unique natural environment, long history of Han culture, precious historical sites, and famous local delicacy - "Huangzangyu Mushroom Chicken" - have attracted tourists from all over the country, making it a shining pearl embedded in the land of Huang Huai!
